With a missionary spirit to kindle the flame of education among the residents of Reasi and adjoining areas, Sh. SK Puri, Chairman of college, laid the foundation of an institution of excellence. With the relentless and dedicated efforts of Sh. S.K. Puri, the long pending demand of local populace was fulfilled.

For Mr. Puri education is a supreme bestowal that one can offer to seekers of knowledge. For the last over three decades he has been working to provide education to children and others of the area and has even dedicated his ancestral house at his native village Suketar, Reasi for housing the Govt. school at Suketar.

To provide best training by highly qualified staff in the best and congenial atmosphere has been our ideal. This has been achieved after going through meticulously in all departments of our activities. We are conscious, whatever has been done is not enough and we have yet do a lot. With the grace of Goddess Vaishno Devi, this institution brings forth teachers of highest integrity and thorough professionalism to shoulder the greatest responsibility of nation building through the medium of their students.

About Reasi

Reasi is situated at a distance of 20 kms from Katra Railway Station (linking rest of the country) which is the base camp town of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The area bounds in places of religious tourism for devotees namely Mata Vaishno Devi, ancient Kalka Mata Temple, ancient Lord Shiva Mahadev Temple, the famous Shiv Khouri cave; the abode of Lord Shiva and Bawa Bidda.

Reasi is Nestled in the Trikuta hills, with its grandeur and lush greenery all around, Shri Vaishno Devi College of Education is situated in the historical town of Reasi, the birth place of late Maharaja Partap Singh. Blessed and protected on its periphery by gods & goddesses, the area stands unique with its pollution free atmosphere and calm and serene environments inculcating habit of keen observation, critical appreciation, analysis and synthesis leading to objective thought process.

There is the Temple of Bawa Jitto at Aghar Jitto for whom word was more sacred than his life and Dera Bawa Banda Bairagi, the historical shrine of warrior saint Madhov Das Bairagi (a staunch devout of Guru Gobind Singh Ji) who laid down his life for the protection of Sikhism which merits to be mentioned here. Bhim Garh fort is another historical place of such attraction. Furthermore, there are many sight seeing spots like Baba Dhansar, Siar Baba, Soola spring and the famous Salal Dam generating 690 MW of hydro power besides many other beautiful natural fresh water springs. The entire route to Reasi is embellished with breathtaking scenic beauty. The journey offers a spiritual aura and a quest for more and more knowledge.


The college is recognized by the J&K Government, and is affiliated to the University of Jammu. The College offers a professional course in education leading to the B.Ed degree of University of Jammu.

National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) ACT is not applicable to the state of Jammu &Kashmir .The University has, however, revised/updated its curriculum as per the recommendations of justice verma commission and guidelines of the University Grants Commission/National curriculum framework for Teacher Education, with certain changes especially with regard to eligibility for admission to the B.Ed Course.


College is located at Reasi, J&K and is at a distance of 20 Kms. from Katra Railway Station. It is 30 minutes drive from the holy town Katra which is base camp of Shri Vaishno Devi shrine. Reasi is well connected by road and is two hours run from Jammu. Students enjoy the pollution free environment and live very close to nature.
